How we vet operators and what you can do to stay safe in Icelandic nature.
Operator standards
Every operator on LuxIceland is licensed by the Icelandic Tourist Board, carries full liability insurance and follows the SafeTravel safety protocols. Glacier, ice cave and diving guides hold internationally recognised certifications (IFMGA, AGI, PADI).
Equipment & ratios
- All technical equipment (crampons, harnesses, helmets, dry suits) is provided and inspected before each tour.
- Maximum guide-to-guest ratios: 1:8 on glacier hikes, 1:4 on ice climbing, 1:2 on cave diving.
- Vehicles are 4×4 and equipped with first-aid kits, satellite communicators and GPS trackers.
Weather & conditions
Tours may be modified or cancelled when conditions are unsafe. Always check safetravel.is and vedur.is before driving in Iceland.
